It's intended to poke fun, or at least make a clever reference to American culture. Everything Rockstar put into the game is a parody of something real, that goes for the cars as well. They don't just take two random cars that look similar and wield them together without any thought put into it (well except maybe for the more recent ones, you can thank Shark Cards for that).
